Launching the first small grant project of RootsNews.
‘Roots Local Story Grant’ is a small grant project of RootsNews, a not-for-profit, independent, community supported press project of Paper Ball Educational Innovation, Vadodara. Aim of the small grant project is to encourage early career freelance journalists and media students to prepare one in-depth well researched story on local issues.

Eligibility:
Freelance journalists and Media students based out of Vadodara. One candidate will be selected for the above-mentioned grant project.
Duration
3 weeks from date of acceptance
Last date of application: March 23, 2024
Assignment start date: April 01, 2024
Our Expectation:
We expect candidate to create original reportage supported by data on given subject by conducting interviews, field observation, secondary research, data analysis.
Supporting Data:
Stories must be supported by photo evidence with camera set at highest quality. All photographs shall be high definition – minimum size 4 megapixels. Highly relevant and very short video clips (10-20 seconds) may be accepted.
Support we offer (if needed):
- Basic training of reporting
- Insight of subject
- Help in research and data analysis
- Interaction/guidance from experienced journalist
- Basic understanding of photography
Grant Amount: ₹3,000 (INR Three thousand only)
